The Illustrated Archive of Mythical Creatures in East Asia
14-page, hand-stitched book featuring a Silk Hanji cover and riso print
"What would a book of mythical creatures look like
if it had been recorded by a scribe from the Joseon Dynasty?"
This book began with that question.
if it had been recorded by a scribe from the Joseon Dynasty?"
This book began with that question.
I hand-printed six mythical creatures using linocut techniques to evoke the atmosphere of ancient records. Each creature's description is a reimagining of actual historical documents and folklore. From the choice of paper to the binding, I focused on capturing a traditional aesthetic—every single book was hand-stitched by me. Please enjoy this book as if you are unfolding an ancient scroll, and step into a world that is at once familiar yet strange.
